Community First Responder – Dorset

Exciting volunteering opportunities have arisen within South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust for Community First Responders to join schemes across Dorset, with a focus on Beaminster, Bridport, Lyme Regis and North Dorset. A Community Responder Vehicle is based in Bournemouth for volunteers covering calls across all Dorset.
Applicants must be within 3 miles of a scheme location or be able to answer from work. The scheme is a group of trained volunteers who provide emergency care community‑based until ambulance arrival.
Main duties of the job
- Provide basic life support and attend emergency calls in your community.
- Volunteer without pay but receive training and support from South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
Training and interview requirements
- Attend formal interview during the week commencing 27 July.
- Complete the six‑day training course at St Leonards Ambulance Training College.
- Must attend all training days; otherwise do not apply.
- Attain Level 3 Award for First Responders on Scene.
Person Specification
Education and qualifications
- Full driving licence held for at least one year, with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Vehicle with current tax, MOT and insurance.
- Current advanced driving qualification.
Previous experience (Paid/Unpaid relevant to role)
- Any previous experience in first aid, emergency response or volunteering in similar roles.
- Demonstrated ability to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 12 hours a week.
