Howard Finley Care is delighted to be working on behalf of our client to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker for a children’s residential home in Handsworth, Birmingham, supporting young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).

This is a rewarding opportunity to join a supportive and child-centred service where you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, structured, and nurturing environment, helping young people build confidence, resilience, and positive futures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support young people on a day-to-day basis, promoting emotional wellbeing, independence, and positive behaviour
  • Build trusting, professional relationships with children and young people
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments, and safeguarding procedures in line with legislation and company policies
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external professionals
  • Accurately record and report on young people’s progress and any incidents

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year’s experience working in a children’s residential home – essential
  • Experience supporting children with EBD – desirable
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 3/4 in Children & Young People or equivalent) – preferred but not essential
  • A genuine passion for working with children and young people
  • Ability to work a 1 on / 2 off shift pattern, including sleeps
