Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Plymouth – Driver Essential.
As a Support Worker, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
Responsibilities
Support individuals with learning disabilities by assisting with daily activities, providing emotional support, and maintaining a positive environment. Work on 24‑hour care shifts between 07:00 and 22:00, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Drive necessary transport services as required.

- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Contract and Schedule
- Full‑time: 37.5 hours.
- Part‑time: flexible hours based on availability.
All shifts are 24‑hour care. Rotas are prepared at least 4 weeks in advance for personal planning. A sleep‑in option is available with an enhanced flat‑rate payment of £63.70.
Benefits
£26,228 per annum, pro‑rata, plus 24 days of paid holiday (excluding bank holidays, pro‑rata) and various perks including discounts at retailers, health cash plans, and interest‑free loans.
