Job description

Powys County Council currently applies a discretionary real living Wage supplement to all employees earning less than £13.45 per hour.

Pre School Setting Assistant

(FIXED TERM UNTIL AUGUST 2027)

16 hours per week – starting 1 st September 2026

Qualifications

• has achieved a level 3 qualification that is recognised on the Care Council for Wales’ current list of Accepted Qualifications for the Early Years
• has a sound understanding of Early Years principles & practice

Responsibilities

• contribute to planning and record keeping
• supervise & interact effectively with children during the sessions
• support children consistently whilst recognising & responding to their individual needs
• promote inclusion
• encourage and utilise the outdoor environment to support the children’s learning experiences
• positively encourage bilingualism and promote the sense of Cynefin in the setting

Work Pattern

The work pattern for this role is: 16 hrs during the childcare sessions for 2 and 3 year-olds. Monday – Thursday 11:30-3:30 during term time only.
