Special Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA). Hours: 27.5 per week, part‑time. Contract: temporary. Salary: Hay 10.
Almondsbury CE Primary is a vibrant 315‑place co‑educational school overlooking the Severn Estuary, on the outskirts of Bristol and near the M4/M5 interchange.
The role is to offer 27.5 hours of support to children with EHCPs over the course of the week, with the possibility of working over lunchtime as a play leader.
Responsibilities
- Provide additional support to help children with academic work, both individually and in class.
- Support transition into school and management of lunch‑time activities.
- Assist children when they become dysregulated and manage their hyper‑vigilance.
- Support regulation of emotions and work to manage emotional challenges.
- Provide sensory support and facilitate fine‑motor control activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- High expectations of children, both academically and socially.
- Ability to work closely with colleagues as a team member.
- Shared commitment to the school’s caring ethos and vision.
- Enthusiasm, dedication, excellent rapport with children and staff, and a sense of humour.
- Calm and consistent approach to working with children.
- Competent English and Maths skills.
- Experience working with children with additional needs and NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) at least.
- Good communication skills with colleagues, children and parents.
- Ability to aid in planning and delivering a range of interventions.
- Training or understanding of trauma‑informed practice is desirable.
