Job Purpose
Bus Driver is responsible to provide safe and efficient transportation to and from school and school-related activities, working as part of a team to contribute to the growth and development of children and youth.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to safely and confidently operate a school bus.
- Good working knowledge of The Highway and Transportation Act.
- Good working knowledge of The Traffic Safety Act.
- Good working knowledge of the Saskatchewan Driver’s Handbook and Saskatchewan Commercial Driver’s Handbook.
- Good understanding of, and ability to apply, a range of student behaviour strategies focused on positive reinforcement of desired behaviour.
- Demonstrated patience, maturity and experience working with children.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan Class 1-5 Driver’s License for at least 2 years.
- Must hold a valid School Bus Endorsement.
- Training is available for non-licensed school bus drivers.
- Clear driver’s abstract, with no major infractions.
- A current Driver’s Abstract from SGI detailing all (personal and commercial) driving records for the last 5 years must be submitted with your application.

- Satisfactory medical examinations in accordance with The Highway Traffic Act.
- First Aid Certification or be willing to obtain one at Prairie Valley School Division’s expense.
Working Conditions
- Full‑time bus routes are paid at a daily base rate of $58.63 plus a per km rate calculated at $0.23/km.
- 100% employer paid health benefits plan.
- Employer matched pension plan.
- Drivers with young children may take their children with them on the bus.
- Subject to CUPE Agreement.
- Commencing August 28, 2026.
- Working in varied climates and differing road conditions.
- Physical ability to load and unload students in wheelchairs may be required.
