HGV Class 1 (CE) Driver

Leith, Edinburgh

£16.00 per hour (PAYE) | Weekly Pay | Minimum 48 Hours per Week | Temp to Perm OpportunityManpower Scotland is recruiting on behalf of a well-established and industry-leading client based in Leith, Edinburgh for an experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) Driver. Working Hours & Pay

  • Average 48-hour working week
  • Start times usually around 6:00am
  • Flexible start times to meet operational requirements
  • Minimum 8 hours guaranteed per shift
  • Participation in a weekend working rota
  • Temp to perm opportunity after 12 weeks

Pay Rate:

  • £16.00 per hour (PAYE)
  • Weekly pay

Training & Development

Initial training will be provided on HGV Class 2 (C) vehicles, including handballing duties, to ensure you are fully trained in the processes, delivery standards, and operational requirements of the role.During this period, you will gain full exposure to the end-to-end delivery process and build confidence in the operational environment.Occasional HGV Class 2 driving shifts will be a requirement as part of the role.

The Role

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of bulk and bagged products to customer sites.Key responsibilities include:

  • Safely operating LGV C+E vehicles in line with legislation and company procedures
  • Delivering bulk and bagged products to customer premises
  • Manual handling of bagged goods where required
  • Loading and unloading bulk product in accordance with safe operating procedures
  • Completing daily vehicle checks, defect reports, and all required driver paperwork
  • Maintaining high standards of vehicle cleanliness and hygiene
  • Providing a professional, reliable, and customer-focused service at all times
  • Working collaboratively with the wider transport and logistics team
  • Supporting operational efficiency and representing the company professionally on customer sites

About You

The successful candidate will be:

  • A qualified and experienced HGV Class 1 (C+E) driver
  • Reliable, professional, and safety-focused at all times
  • Comfortable with manual handling when required
  • Able to work independently and manage time effectively
  • A strong communicator with a customer-focused approach
  • Compliant with all transport legislation and safe driving practices

Essential Requirements

  • Valid HGV C+E (Class 1) licence
  • Driver CPC qualification card
  • Digital Tachograph card
  • Strong understanding of EU Drivers’ Hours regulations
  • Knowledge of Road Transport Directive (RTD) and Highway Code
  • Good awareness of health & safety and food hygiene standards
  • No major DR or DD convictions (insurance purposes)
