Job Overview
NWSSP provides clinical logistics transport services across all NHS Wales health boards. The Driver/Storekeeper will support the distribution of medical records, samples, blood products and other pathology, consent items to NHS hospitals, GP practices, pharmacies, opticians and dental surgeries.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and manage stock items in central store centers.
- Transport, distribute and replenish NHS Pathology, Blood/Blood Products, Secure and Non‑Secure Stationery, Laundry, Mail/Records and medical consumables.
- Ensure safe and secure handling of all samples and documents in compliance with GMP, law, and the Accordo Dangereux Routier.
- Operate vans and other delivery vehicles, performing basic vehicle maintenance.
- Use mobile technology to record movements and report any issues.
- Provide excellent customer service to health care sites.
Working Hours and Schedule
Core service hours are 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Occasionally the role requires work outside these hours, including 24‑hour dispatch for certain deliveries.
Qualifications – Essential
- Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of health and safety, including handling and awareness procedures.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the area served.
Qualifications – Desirable
- Capability to drive a range of vans and other vehicle types.
- Basic vehicle‑maintenance knowledge.
- Welsh language skills.
Skills and Knowledge Criteria
- Customer‑service skills.
- Proficiency with mobile technology and navigation systems.
- Ability to speak Welsh (desirable).
Legal and Visa Requirements
Applicants who are not UK or Republic of Ireland nationals require sponsorship to obtain a Health and Care visa or a Skilled Worker visa. Visa costs are lower under the Health and Care visa route; details can be found on the UK government site ‘Work in the UK’.
