Job Description:

Receptionist required for a busy, friendly, doctorssurgery in Edgware.

Hours of work: –

Monday – Friday 2pm – 7pm

25 hours per week, but you may be asked to do additional hours to cover absence.

Pay is £12.71 perhour.

Please note thatthe successful candidate will need to start as soon as possible. When applying pleasestate your notice period that you have with your current employer.

Main duties of the job

To answer generalenquiries in person and over the phone.

To process repeatprescription requests.

Respond to allqueries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors

Book transport whenneeded

Ensure reception andwaiting areas are neat and tidy

Ensure totalfamiliarity with all appointment systems in effect

Book appointmentsand recalls

Answer external andinternal telephones promptly

Receive and makecalls as required. Divert calls and take messages as appropriate.

Ensure that thesystem is operational at the beginning of the day

To receive andaccurately record messages for GPs, nurses and any other staff

To deal with patientrequests for test results

Management ofmedical records

Documentation management

To act as chaperone on occasions for the doctors or nurses.

To attend training when organised by the Practice Manager

To attend meetings when necessary

Any other duties appropriate to the grade

Person Specification

Location

  • Lives in the Edgware area

Experience

  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Experience of working as a medical receptionist – 1 year minimum.
