Job Responsibilities
- Sorting soiled linen prior to wash cycle.
- Operating laundry machines according to specified procedures and Health & Safety requirements.
- Transporting clean or dirty linen between each laundry cycle.
- Folding and packing finished linen to meet customer needs.
- Reporting all equipment or machine faults to supervision.
- Delivering clean linen to all wards and departments when required.
- Recording all linen packed and ready for distribution.
- Complying with all Health & Safety regulations at all times.
- Maintaining the cleanliness of the individual work area at all times.
- Attending mandatory training updates as required.
- Undergoing training necessary for post development and as agreed with the line manager.
- Achieving and demonstrating agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales.
- Identifying own learning needs and jointly planning training requirements with the line manager.
- Participating in the Trust’s appraisal process to discuss role contributions.
- Flexibly undertaking other duties consistent with the role, such as project work, internal job rotation and absence cover.
Person Specification
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of linen.
- Good understanding of English and Maths.
- Previous experience with laundry/linen items is an advantage.
Requirements
- Good command of the English language.
- Previous experience with laundry/linen items is an advantage.
- Able to work as part of a team.
- Evidence of having undertaken own development to improve understanding of equality issues.
- Ability to develop and maintain good communication with people at all levels.
- Team player with confidence and ability to work on own.
- Literacy and numeracy skills.
- Evidence of having championed diversity in previous roles (where appropriate).
