Overview

Job title: Apprentice Receptionist

Be the friendly face at the heart of our Family Hub/Children’s Centre, helping to create a welcoming and supportive environment for families and visitors. You’ll keep essential administration running smoothly—from managing records and bookings to helping shape more efficient online processes. As the first point of contact, you’ll greet visitors, manage enquiries in person, by phone and email, and ensure everyone feels supported and connected to the services they need.

Role details

The role of Apprentice Receptionist will be the first point of contact for the Family Hub/Children Centre by working on reception, welcoming families and visitors, signing them in and helping them find what they need. This also includes first point of contact via phone or mailbox. In the role you will support the operational delivery of the Family Hub/Children Centre through maintaining effective administration processes, possibly further developing them to online processes. This can include filing records, booking rooms and activities. The role will respond to questions from families in person, over the phone and by email, making sure they get the right help. In the role you will register new families and explain what support and services are available. As the Apprentice Receptionist you will signpost families to other local services and organisations that can help them. You will organise session bookings, manage waiting lists and keep clear attendance records. This role is fixed term for the purpose of completing the level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship and will end 18 months after you start with us.

Responsibilities

Qualifications and requirements

  • Fixed-term apprenticeship: Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship (18 months).
  • Strong customer service and communication skills (in person, phone, and email).
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and manage bookings efficiently.
  • Supportive team player with a commitment to public service and community outcomes.
