SALARY: £25,272 (Grade A) Pro rata against standard 37.5hr week, enhanced rate payable for nights weekends and bank holidays
HOURS: Average 42 hours per week Monday to Sunday. Day and night shifts plus weekends.
Main duties of the job
What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing a visible, reassuring presence across the hospital site
- Supporting staff, patients, and visitors with queries and assistance
- Responding to incidents in a calm and professional manner
- Helping to de‑escalate challenging situations safely
- Monitoring access and ensuring hospital policies are followed
- Working closely with clinical teams and other support services
- Monitor car parking and parking enforcement within the site policy

About the Role
We are looking for approachable, reliable, and professional individuals to join our Security Team. As a Hospital Security Officer, you will play an important role in helping to maintain a safe, calm, and supportive environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
This is a people‑focused role where communication, teamwork, and professionalism are just as important as security awareness.

Qualifications
- Willing to work towards (and successfully obtain) SIA and CCTV badges.
- Holds SIA and CCTV badges
- GCSE English at grade A–C
- Ability to follow instructions both verbal and written
- Able to speak, read and write a good standard of English
Knowledge
- Understanding of Confidentiality
- Demonstrates an understanding of Dignity and Respect
- Understanding of Health and Safety
- Knowledge of an NHS organisation or similar environment
Experience
- Basic knowledge of health and safety in a working environment
- Previous experience of working in a hospital/healthcare/care home environment
Other
- Able to complete work records accurately
- Able to work to schedules, procedures and deadlines
- Ability to de‑escalate conflict situations through negotiation
- Ability to use reasonable, necessary and proportionate force when appropriate
