Leeds City Location, Monday to Friday office 8 hours a day

Role Purpose

The Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of infrastructure, groundworks, and tunnelling projects through technical coordination, Program management, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate engineering activities between site teams, designers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Monitor project progress against Program, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Support NEC4 contract administration, early warning processes, Program reviews, and change management activities.
  • Support procurement activities and subcontractor management.
  • Review and manage technical queries, RFIs, and construction documentation.
  • Comply with CDM 2015 regulations, company HSEQ procedures, and promote a positive safety culture across all activities.
  • Assist with risk management, temporary works coordination, and permits.
  • Prepare progress reports, look-ahead plans, and engineering trackers.

Technical Requirements

  • Understanding of NEC4 contracts and UK infrastructure delivery models.
  • Knowledge of tunnelling, deep excavation, or heavy civils construction methodologies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, and common engineering document systems.
  • Understanding of QA/QC processes and inspection test plans.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction sequencing.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • 3–7 years of infrastructure or heavy civil engineering experience.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification advantageous.
  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status preferred.
