Mobile Caretaker Contract: Education Location: Wigan / Leigh – and other sites Hours of work: 25 Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, 06:00 – 08:00 and 15:00 – 18:00 Contract Type: Permanent Hourly Rate: £13.95 As a Mobile Ground Operator / Caretaker with ISS UK, you will play a key role in ensuring that sites, buildings, and grounds across your designated area are maintained to a high standard, creating safe and welcoming environments for staff, residents, and visitors alike. The buildings and surrounding grounds are an important part of promoting a professional image for our client. You will travel between locations across Leigh, Astley, Atherton, Tyldesley, Lowton, Hindley and Platt Bridge, supporting the day-to-day upkeep, security, and presentation of each site while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and statutory requirements. The Role Travel between multiple sites across the designated area, ensuring each location is maintained to a clean, safe, and professional standard Carry out regular inspections of buildings, grounds, and communal areas, reporting maintenance or repair requirements Complete basic repairs and maintenance tasks within remit and in line with the ISS Site Manual Monitor heating, lighting, and security systems, reporting any faults or defects promptly Maintain cleanliness across sites, including grounds, car parks, communal areas, washrooms, and bin stores Carry out porterage duties, waste removal, emergency cleaning, and deep cleaning as required Open and close buildings where required, ensuring sites are secure and alarm systems are operated correctly Conduct daily perimeter and security checks, reporting hazards, unsafe practices, and near hits in line with company procedures Ensure company vehicle, equipment, and materials are used safely and maintained in good condition Respond flexibly to changing priorities and operational requirements across the patch About You Reliable and hardworking with a professional attitude Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites throughout the designated area Good understanding of site maintenance, cleaning, and basic repair duties Able to work independently and manage workloads across multiple locations Excellent customer service and communication skills A strong awareness of health and safety procedures Able to communicate with all site users in a polite and professional manner Flexible approach to duties and emergency call-outs when required Previous caretaker, grounds maintenance, cleaning, facilities, or mobile operative experience would be beneficial The Company ISS is a world-leading workplace and facility management company, connecting people and places to make the world work better.
