Job role: Pre-Construction Technical Manager

Start date: ASAP. Location of work/project: St Pauls.

Project Value

Projects range from small demolition (circa £1m) soft strip and clearance to complex industrial demolition including managing explosive blow downs, high-rise top-down demolition and large high-reach machine demolition. Follow‑on works packages include infrastructure, basement construction and civil engineering. Worth upwards of £40m+.

Scope of Works

  • Lead the technical development to unlock complex and interesting projects.
  • Unpick invitations for tender and distribute to different disciplines to provide technical solutions.
  • Co‑ordinating and managing technical answers and prioritising for the overall successful delivery of the tender programme and solution.
  • Producing basic to intermediary programmes utilising Asta.
  • Supporting PQQ process and providing technical answers to bid management team.
  • Producing temporary works design briefs.
  • Creating Outline Method Statements.
  • Managing sub‑contractor quotation teams to deliver best possible deliverable programmes and prices.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Assist the preconstruction lead working alongside preconstruction managers and estimators to ensure tenders are fully technically considered and can be successfully delivered by site teams.
  • Manage producing and giving tender interview presentations.
  • Lead site walks to better understand and develop tender strategies.

Reporting Structure

  • Reporting to: Mark Taylor, Pre-Construction Manager.
  • Reporting to them: Swantons in-house design consultancy, Programmers, 4D/3D/2D technicians, Bid managers, External consultants.

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday 08:00 – 18:00.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Industry related degree/higher level certification.
  • Good at presenting ideas clearly both in written and oral language.
  • Experience onsite within RC/build environments Civil/Structural ideally within industrial/infrastructure environment.
  • Ability to develop construction sequences and programmes of work for most efficient working methods.
  • Ability to present complex ideas for teams of mixed backgrounds via mixed media means (PowerPoint presenting/email/workshops etc.)
  • Organised individual that works well within a team.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, programming software.

Salary and Package

£75k-£85k depending on experience and credentials. All train/travel expenses paid. 23 days annual leave.
