We’re seeking a dedicated Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our outpatient team in the Outpatient Department. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in patients’ lives every day.

Main duties of the job
- Delivering high‑quality, patient‑centred nursing care to patients in the outpatient setting and day infusion clinic.
- Ensuring the safety and well‑being of service users, and always working in a manner that promotes dignity.
- Undertaking patient assessments, planning and implementing programmes of care.
- Providing patient education and support.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Coordinating the flow of the department alongside the wider team.
- Teaching and mentoring learners on placement and coaching team members in their role.
- At times, the post holder will have management responsibility for being in charge and supervising junior members of staff.
- The post holder is required to follow Trust policies and procedures at all times.
- Expertise in clinical skills including venepuncture; wound‑care management and complex wounds; suture removal; ECGs; responding to NEWS2 scores and escalating appropriately; management of acutely unwell patients; conflict‑management skills; undertaking cognitive assessments; and undertaking dynamic patient risk assessments.

Please note: this advertised post is a part‑time post – 16 hours per week / 0.43 WTE. The successful applicant will be required to work 2 shifts per week, across Monday to Thursday as per operational requirement.
Person Specification / Qualifications and Training
- Current NMC registration.
- Working towards a relevant university‑accredited post‑registration course.
- Teaching and assessing qualification.
- Registered Nurse 1st Level.
- Relevant post‑registration courses and experience.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Experience of working on own and as part of a team.
- Experience of coordinating a shift.
- Supervision of junior staff members.
- Flexible and positive approach to work.
- Able and willing to work flexible shift patterns according to service needs.
- Wound‑care management.
- Venepuncture and cannulation competency.
