Job Description

Catering Service Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Maintain catering assets to a high operational standard, ensuring all equipment is serviced, safe, compliant with legislation, and used correctly.
  • Monitor asset condition to support timely replacement planning and minimise downtime.
  • Source cost‑effective spare parts and identify opportunities to introduce improved alternatives.
  • Advise on misuse when equipment is not utilised properly.
  • Stay informed about new or updated catering equipment through research and manufacturer training.
  • Carry out installation and maintenance of relevant trades in domestic and commercial buildings.
  • Perform general plumbing, electrical, gas and refrigeration duties, repair works and minor installations of all catering equipment.
  • Work with line manager and provide advice and information relating to any technical matters.
  • Be commercially aware and be responsible for ordering required materials from suppliers in an efficient manner, following the company’s purchasing procedures.
  • Supervise, direct and positively motivate junior staff and/or apprentices who may be appointed to assist and support the wider performance of this role.

Qualifications

  • CCN1 (or COCDN1), COCN1 (or CODNCO1), CIGA1, CDGA1LL COMCAT 1‑5
  • Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Fault‑finding experience on control systems
  • Understanding of safety regulations
  • Knowledge of different maintenance techniques
  • Excellent customer service
