Job Description
Catering Service Engineer
Responsibilities
- Maintain catering assets to a high operational standard, ensuring all equipment is serviced, safe, compliant with legislation, and used correctly.
- Monitor asset condition to support timely replacement planning and minimise downtime.
- Source cost‑effective spare parts and identify opportunities to introduce improved alternatives.
- Advise on misuse when equipment is not utilised properly.
- Stay informed about new or updated catering equipment through research and manufacturer training.
- Carry out installation and maintenance of relevant trades in domestic and commercial buildings.
- Perform general plumbing, electrical, gas and refrigeration duties, repair works and minor installations of all catering equipment.
- Work with line manager and provide advice and information relating to any technical matters.
- Be commercially aware and be responsible for ordering required materials from suppliers in an efficient manner, following the company’s purchasing procedures.
- Supervise, direct and positively motivate junior staff and/or apprentices who may be appointed to assist and support the wider performance of this role.
Qualifications
- CCN1 (or COCDN1), COCN1 (or CODNCO1), CIGA1, CDGA1LL COMCAT 1‑5
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- Fault‑finding experience on control systems
- Understanding of safety regulations
- Knowledge of different maintenance techniques
- Excellent customer service
