We are recruiting a Client Director to provide tailored advice in line with the evolving needs of our Partner Funds. These roles are central to a £45bn pension pool and will grow in alignment with Government ambition, working directly with LGPS funds to deliver investment returns aligned with their objectives. This role is client-facing and offers the opportunity to influence public sector pension investments and long-term outcomes for members and employers across the LGPS.
What you’ll be doing: As our Partner Fund Client Director, you’ll be at the heart of delivering an exceptional client experience. Here is a flavour of the responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing our business plan to position Central as principal advisor to Partner Funds and to enable greater delegated implementation in line with government proposals and legislation.
- Designing the advisory service for Partner Funds.
- Defining needs and assisting with procurement of systems (e.g., risk modelling and capital market assumptions).
- Leading Central’s relationship and full client investment service offering to approximately 4 Partner Funds.
- Attending Partner Fund investment-related meetings including Pension Committee.
- Agreeing IMAs and SLAs with Partner Funds and ensuring compliance with requirements.
- Delivering the full range of investment advice, including strategic asset allocation.
- Agreeing implementation routes aligned with Central building blocks with the Partner Funds.
- Delivering reporting to Partner Funds.

LGPSC is jointly owned on an equal shares basis by Partner Funds and manages £45bn+ of assets. It is one of eight Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) asset pools in the UK. Requirements
- Institutional Investment Experience: Proven background in investment consulting or relationship management within pension funds, asset managers, or similar, with solid experience in both public and private markets and a strong understanding of LGPS preferred.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Demonstrated success in building collaborative relationships with clients, Pension Committees, actuaries, investment advisors, senior management, and service providers.
- Investment Strategy Delivery: Hands-on experience delivering a full suite of institutional investment services—from setting strategy and implementation to investment reporting and oversight.
- Governance & Regulation Expertise: Strong understanding of investment governance frameworks, asset owner reporting, and UK pension regulations, ideally including LGPS-specific elements.
- Analytical & Technical Proficiency: Skilled in asset liability modelling, reporting at strategic and asset class levels, and proficient in PowerPoint and Excel for data presentation and analysis.
- Communication & Problem Solving: Excellent at conveying complex investment concepts clearly to varied audiences and delivering effective solutions.
- Collaborative & Organised Approach: Able to work cross-functionally in dynamic environments, manage multiple priorities, and proactively plan and execute projects.
- Ethics & ESG Integration: Strong commitment to ethical standards with knowledge of ESG principles and their practical application in investment decision-making.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree – Required; CFA or Actuarial qualification – Preferred; IMC – Preferred; Has or can meet all requirements of being an FCA approved person.
