Role Overview
We’re hiring a Director of Content Strategy to lead the performance and growth of our slate. You’ll report to our Chief Operations Officer, with the Head of Production reporting into you, and your primary focus will be working with the team to spot opportunities to improve and develop the slate performance.
Your role is to take a portfolio view, identify where the opportunities are, and shape the strategy and packaging that drives the next phase of growth.
This is a senior role for someone who has scaled content IP before and can bring a strong, considered point of view. We’re looking for someone who leads with a data-first mindset, a strong understanding of social and video strategies and combines it with the analytical rigour needed to manage a slate of shows thoughtfully.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy, performance and growth of the entire show slate, with a primary KPI of Combined views (Episode Views + Audio Streams) across the portfolio.
- Manage the Head of Video and work closely with show producers, talent and the wider creative team to bring the strategy to life.
- Set the editorial and packaging direction across our YouTube channels, including thumbnails, titles, hooks, episode structure and cadence, holding a high bar for creative craft.
- Develop a clear, evidence-based understanding of each show’s health, trajectory and potential.
- Provide recommendations on show lifecycle decisions, including where to invest, which formats to evolve, and how best to manage the slate over time. Final calls sit with the CEO; your role is to guide and inform those decisions.
- Partner with the COO and CEO to identify and develop new show concepts and IP, with a clear creative and commercial rationale for each.
- Shape our reporting and analytics so the leadership team has the insight needed to make confident decisions, building on our existing monthly performance reporting.
- Stay close to YouTube as a platform, spotting algorithmic and audience shifts early and adapting our approach accordingly.
Requirements
- 5+ years in content, video or digital media, including experience leading a function or team.
- A track record of meaningfully scaling shows, channels or content IP, with the ability to talk through the work, the numbers and the decisions behind it.
- Deep, hands‑on understanding of YouTube as a platform. You understand what makes a thumbnail or title perform, what a healthy retention curve looks like, and how channel architecture affects performance.
- Strong editorial and packaging instinct, with a clear and considered point of view on what’s working in content and why.
- Comfortable with data and analytics. You can read a performance dashboard, interrogate it, and translate it into specific, actionable improvements.
- Senior in how you operate, with the confidence to engage directly with talent, producers and leadership, and to hold a point of view in important conversations.
- Based in London and able to work from our studio.
