Job Responsibilities
As a registered Pharmacy Technician, you will:
- Conduct medication reconciliation of clinical letters and hospital discharge summaries.
- Manage medicine prescribing, screening and processing.
- Support the repeat dispensing process and respond to patient medication queries.
- Coordinate with local pharmacies to manage stock levels and shortages.
- Synchronise medication schedules with repeat prescriptions.
- Oversee medication recall processes, ensuring timely responses and compliance.
- Monitor dose‑adjustment/monitoring (Doac).
- Conduct prescribing audits and review shared care protocols.
- Act on medicines safety alerts from CAS/MHRA/ICB.
- Complete Level 1 and Level 2 medication reviews.
- Assist with Pre‑SMR screening.
- Create and run reports within the practice clinical systems to identify stratified patients for review.
Qualifications
- BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
- Professional registration with the GPhC.
- Completion of the CPPE Primary Care pathway, or active enrolment.
- Minimum 6 months experience in a general practice/primary‑care setting.
- Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
- Disclosure and Barring Service check (subject to Rehabilitation of Offenders Act).
Skills and Experience
- Proficient with EMIS or System 1; training can be provided.
- Stable internet connection/WIFI during working hours.
- Strong understanding of medication management, dispensing and patient safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to patient care and professional standards.
- Adaptability to changing environments, guidance and protocols.
