Position Overview
Research Assistant in Climate Compatible Growth – a full‑time, fixed‑term post until 31 March 2027, funded by the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG) programme, within the Energy and Power (EPG) research group at the Department of Engineering Science, Holywell House, Osney, Oxford. The role will be co‑supervised by Professor Stephanie Hirmer (EPG) and Dr Jessica Omukuti (Smith School for Enterprise and the Environment). Hybrid working pattern is normal practice.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the team’s work on place‑based decision‑making, focusing on the social dimensions of critical minerals development – including community impacts, benefit sharing and inclusive development outcomes – and help develop real‑world tools and techniques for sustainable energy systems.
Qualifications
Hold a relevant first and master’s degree, possess specialist knowledge in energy systems or energy access in low‑ and middle‑income countries, and have experience engaging with stakeholders to inform research and policy development.
