Job overview

To support Radiology staff with all aspects of patient bookings. To be the first line of contact for patients, visitors and staff to the department. To perform reception and clerical duties as required supporting the Radiology Department.

Main duties of the job

  • Book patients and maintain a record using the in‑house Radiology computer system and local PAS system (training provided), and register new patients on Local PAS and RIS systems.
  • Ensure radiology requests are entered into the RIS system in a timely and accurate manner, cross‑indexing with RIS and local PAS system, identifying if a procedure is to go on the diagnostic or planned waiting list.
  • Raise requests on the local PAS system for clinic and book clinic appointments accordingly.
  • Work with the Trusts electronic request system and ensure all patients are monitored and booked off the electronic request system within the 6‑week diagnostic waiting target or within the planned request date.
  • Answer telephone queries from patients, other hospitals, G.P.s, other departments within the hospital or redirect them to the relevant person or take messages as appropriate.
  • Escort or direct patients from main waiting area to sub‑waiting areas within the department/hospital as required; attend to any patient requirements whilst they are in the waiting areas.
  • Carry out any other duties as may be requested and provide cover during absence of other reception staff within the department.

Qualifications

  • Good English and numeracy
  • Experience in a similar role

Knowledge & nature of experience

  • Previous administration experience
  • Departmental terminology
  • Previous experience in a patient‑focused environment

Professional / Managerial / Specialist knowledge

  • Knowledge of Radiology Management System (RIS)
  • Knowledge of Schedular
  • Knowledge of Radiology Modalities
  • Knowledge of EPIC
  • Knowledge of PACS
