We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) to oversee the full lifecycle of temporary works on a construction site. This critical role is responsible for ensuring that all temporary structures are properly planned, designed, approved, implemented, and safely dismantled.
Acting as the central point of coordination, the TWC works closely with designers, contractors, and site teams to ensure all temporary works comply with relevant legislation, standards, and best practice. The role plays a key part in ensuring that all safety and legal obligations are met before any temporary structure is put into use.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage all temporary works activities across site
- Oversee the full lifecycle of temporary works, including planning, design approval, implementation, and dismantling
- Ensure all temporary works designs are reviewed, approved, and fit for purpose
- Act as the key link between designers, contractors, and site teams
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and guidance (e.g., BS 5975, CDM Regulations)
- Verify that safe systems of work and risk controls are in place prior to implementation
- Maintain registers and records of temporary works activities
- Monitor and audit temporary works to ensure ongoing compliance
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with temporary structures
- Support site teams in managing multiple temporary works packages simultaneously
Key Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or in a similar role within construction or civil engineering
- Strong understanding of temporary works procedures, including:
- Design processes
- Risk management
- Safe systems of work
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards, including BS 5975 and CDM Regulations
- Background in construction, civil engineering, or a related discipline (HNC/HND, degree, or equivalent experience preferred)
- Valid CSCS card or equivalent site competency certification
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) or equivalent health & safety qualification
- Experience managing multiple temporary works packages in a live site environment
