Senior Finance Assistant (Apprentice) | University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust

Responsibilities

• Assist with day‑to‑day core financial operations, including month‑end activities, supplier payments, and invoice raising.
• Respond to budget manager queries and reconcile control accounts.
• Analyse and present financial data using Excel, including Pivot Tables, formulas and filters.
• Support accounting for the NHS Foundation Trust and its subsidiary companies, with a combined turnover of approximately £215 million.

Apprenticeship

Provide a Level 4 finance apprenticeship, supporting one of the NHS Foundation Trust’s subsidiaries. You will study for an AAT Level 4 or a CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting, with full support for study time and off‑the‑job training.

Qualifications

• Hold an AAT Level 3 or equivalent qualification, ideally with prior finance experience.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and a team‑player mindset.
• Show excellent attention to detail, honesty, independence and initiative.
• Possess proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables, formulas and filters.
