HGV Class 1 Driver (C+E) Tramper Driver

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 1 Driver looking for a long‑term role with regular tramping work across the UK and occasional European travel. You will transport temperature‑controlled goods between distribution hubs and collection points, ensuring deliveries are safely, efficiently and on time.

Location: South Devon – travelling throughout the UK and occasionally into France.

Salary: £49,489.44 per annum, plus additional earnings through overnight allowances and overtime opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Class 1 articulated vehicles with refrigerated trailers
• Complete deliveries and collections across the UK
• Occasionally travel into France as required
• Carry out daily vehicle defect checks and report any issues
• Follow transport plans and instructions from the operations team
• Ensure compliance with EU Drivers Hours Regulations and Working Time Directive requirements
• Complete all paperwork accurately and within required timescales
• Monitor and record trailer temperatures where required
• Keep vehicles and trailers clean and presentable
• Assist with loading and unloading using pallet trucks and other equipment when required
• Follow all company health and safety procedures
• Work flexibly to support operational requirements

Qualifications

• Essential:
  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence
  • Valid Driver CPC qualification
  • Digital tachograph card
  • No more than 6 penalty points
  • Good understanding of driver’s hours and transport legislation
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible and professional approach to work
• Desirable:
  • Minimum one year’s Class 1 driving experience
  • Counterbalance forklift licence
  • Powered forklift certificate
