Planned Works Electrical Support Technician

Salary: £34,938 + Excellent Benefits

Office Locations: Chesham & Wooburn Green, High Wycombe

Location of Work: Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire & surrounding counties.

Contract: Permanent

Hours: 42.5 hours per week (08:00 – 17:30 Monday – Friday)

Vacancies: Five newly created roles available

About the Role

As a Planned Works Electrical Support Technician, you’ll work directly alongside a qualified electrician to support the delivery of kitchen and bathroom refurbishment programmes across our homes. This is a hands‑on, practical role where you’ll assist with strip‑outs, cable routing, containment installation, basic electrical preparation and other enabling tasks. You’ll learn on the job, develop your skills and play a key part in ensuring safe, high‑quality installations in residents’ homes. This is the perfect role for an electrical mate, improver or someone with early electrical experience who wants to progress.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical support

  • Assist the qualified electrician with first‑fix and second‑fix tasks
  • Install basic electrical accessories and containment (pattress boxes, back boxes, conduit, trunking)
  • Help with cable pulling, routing and preparation
  • Prepare tools, materials and work areas
  • Support testing activities (e.g., recording readings as instructed)

Strip‑outs & enabling works

  • Carry out safe strip‑outs of old kitchen and bathroom fittings
  • Chase walls for cable routes under guidance
  • Lift floorboards, create access points and remove redundant cabling
  • Complete basic making‑good tasks
  • Keep work areas tidy, safe and organised

Working in occupied homes

  • Work respectfully and professionally in residents’ homes
  • Protect surfaces and property using dust sheets and coverings
  • Communicate politely about noise, access and power interruptions
  • Report safeguarding or welfare concerns immediately

Health, safety & compliance

  • Follow safe isolation, PPE, RAMS and site safety rules
  • Use hand and power tools safely and within competence
  • Report hazards, near‑misses and unsafe conditions
  • Maintain a safe and tidy work environment at all times

Documentation & customer service

  • Complete paperwork accurately
  • Communicate clearly with electricians, colleagues and residents
  • Follow procedures for vehicles, PPE, uniform and equipment
  • Represent SettleParadigm positively at all times

Must Haves

What We’re Looking For

  • City & Guilds Level 2 or equivalent introductory electrical qualification
  • Experience as an electrical mate, improver or in a construction trade
  • Basic understanding of domestic electrical systems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Experience assisting with first‑fix, second‑fix or electrical preparation
  • Experience working in occupied homes or customer‑facing environments
  • Awareness of PPE and hazard identification
  • Ability to follow instructions and work safely
  • Good literacy and numeracy
  • Full valid driving licence
  • Strong customer‑focused approach
  • Ability to manage time and follow schedules
  • Full manual driving licence
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team

Nice to haves

  • Experience installing trunking, conduit, pattress boxes or containment
  • Experience in social housing refurbishment environments
  • Clean driving licence
