Stories shape how we understand ourselves and each other. At Period Reality, storytelling is a powerful tool for shifting culture, amplifying lived experiences, and building empathy. The Chief Storyteller will lead all our storytelling efforts, ensuring that the voices we gather are honoured, amplified ethically, and used to create maximum impact. This role is key to guiding how our community’s experiences shape our programs, campaigns, and public presence.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the storytelling strategy across Period Reality, guiding volunteers and contributors.
  • Review and curate stories collected from our global community to ensure ethical, respectful, and accurate representation.
  • Shape narrative tone, themes, and frameworks to align with our mission and values.
  • Help to capture stories in written, audio, or video formats.
  • Oversee storytelling initiatives and campaigns, ensuring stories reach the right audiences effectively.
  • Innovate with creative formats to communicate complex topics in relatable and impactful ways.
  • Ensure all storytelling practices prioritize consent, confidentiality, and psychological safety.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience leading storytelling projects or teams, ideally in social impact, equity, or education sectors.
  • Passion for amplifying lived experiences and building empathy through narrative.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to review sensitive content carefully and thoughtfully.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Leadership and mentoring skills, able to guide volunteers and collaborators.
  • Creative, strategic, and adaptable—able to balance multiple projects while maintaining high‑quality storytelling standards.
  • Alignment with Period Reality’s mission and comfort working in a collaborative, impact‑driven environment.
  • Someone who is proactive, self‑driven, and has time to commit consistently in a way that is sustainable for them.
