Job Title: Senior Software Engineer – Golang

Location: London

Salary Range: £76,760 – £115,140

Work Hours: Full time

Working Pattern: Hybrid – at least two days per week, or 40% of time, spent at an office site.

End Date: Saturday 20 June 2026

What you’ll be doing

As a Backend Software Engineer you’ll support the build of elegant, performant, maintainable, operable, and secure Golang microservices. You’ll help design and architect our systems, contribute to continuous improvement, and play a key role in making the engineering team the best it can be. You’ll deliver clean, architecturally sound server‑side code, work closely with stakeholders to build, measure and learn, partner with product and engineering managers to refine how we build and ship, and help the team navigate roadblocks so features land as effectively as possible. Along the way, you’ll guide design discussions, balance flexibility, speed, scalability and performance, champion new technologies, promote strong development practices, and proactively tackle technical debt.

Requirements

  • 5+ years’ experience as a software engineer
  • In‑depth knowledge of Golang (experience with PHP is a plus)
  • Experience building microservices, preferably deployed in containers on Kubernetes
  • Solid grounding in agile development practices
  • Experience with both RDBMS and NoSQL datastores
  • Ability to diagnose problems across the stack – client, HTTP/network, server, database, OS – with sound rationale for decisions
  • Proven experience building large, concurrent, distributed applications
  • Experience developing and running large‑scale production environments in partnership with DevOps or SRE teams
  • Interest in working in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment, ideally in fintech or payments
  • Experience with event‑driven architectures
  • Experience mentoring or coaching other engineers
  • Experience with real‑time, low‑latency, high‑frequency transaction‑based systems

We offer a wide-ranging benefits package, including:

  • Generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • Annual bonus award, subject to group performance
  • Share schemes, including free shares
  • Flexible benefits that can be adapted to your lifestyle (e.g., discounted shopping)

  • Range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
