Pilot Plant Manager

High‑tech, innovative business involved in chemical, oil & gas, and process industries – a sustainable business with novel technology that has an amazing impact on the environment.

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 (to be confirmed).

Responsibilities

• Develop new processes, test, report and analyse results.
• Run trials, analyse reports and findings – a varied, hands‑on role requiring a “get stuck in” mentality.
• Oversee safety, budget control, scheduling, and compliance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors for plant and equipment maintenance.
• Manage contractors, suppliers, and regulatory interactions (COMAH, REACH, waste regulations).
• Navigate ambiguity and problem‑solve on the ground when plans change.

Qualifications & Background

• Flexible on background – technically curious and passionate about making a difference.
• Experience of scale‑up or pilot plant, or working in a small technology/engineering business.
• Exposure to process industries (chemical, plastics, polymer, oil & gas, petrochemical, pharma, biotech) is beneficial.
• Practical knowledge of regulatory frameworks (COMAH, REACH, environmental, safety) is beneficial but not essential.
• Intellectual agility and problem‑solving mindset – able to learn fast and adapt.

Location

This role is based near Leeds and is commutable from Leeds, Huddersfield, Wakefield, Bradford, Batley, and the broader Yorkshire region.
