Overview

Centre for Reproductive Medicine, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, Coventry. The Centre for Reproductive Medicine helps patients who are struggling to conceive to achieve their dream of becoming parents. We are seeking a friendly, hardworking, flexible laboratory administrator to join our laboratory administration team. This post is administrative in nature and is not based within the laboratory.

Hours & Flexibility

30 hours per week, 0800 – 1600 with a half‑hour unpaid lunch break Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Wednesdays off. Flexibility to cover annual leave or sickness is imperative and shift patterns may change at times depending on the needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and interpret clinical data from patient notes and input accurately and to agreed deadlines.
  • Deal with all incoming telephone calls for patients requesting appointments for semen analysis and book appointments as required.
  • Gather and interpret information from a variety of internal and external sources and identify relevant data for input.
  • Input semen analysis results following detailed analysis by laboratory staff in a timely manner.
  • Identify incorrect data, advise the relevant individual and obtain correct data.
  • Identify outstanding data items required for computer input and liaise with appropriate internal departments and external organisations to obtain relevant information.
  • Prioritise all incoming workload in line with agreed departmental standards.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as photocopying, filing, ensuring correspondence is filed correctly, maintaining manual records, and distributing reports in a timely manner.
  • Act as a witness to the scientists, checking and recording patient information during preparation of specimens for treatment.
  • Assist in carrying out audit procedures on stored patient specimens.
  • Cover the work of other input staff during periods of absence or peak workloads.
  • Assist in preparation of paperwork and patient notes ahead of the weekly treatment planning meeting.
  • Undertake any other tasks relevant to the post as required in accordance with the grade and nature of the post.
