Maintenance Plant Fitter (Mechanical)

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter looking for a stable, long-term career with varied, hands‑on engineering work?

We are seeking a Maintenance Plant Fitter to join a busy industrial operation in the Frome area. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving a wide range of heavy production equipment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys fault‑finding, problem‑solving and working on large‑scale mechanical plant in a safety‑focused environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Respond to mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment safely and efficiently
• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance activities
• Support preventative maintenance programmes and shutdowns
• Conduct welding and fabrication work as required
• Diagnose faults and identify root causes of equipment failures
• Complete maintenance records using a CMMS system
• Assist with continuous improvement projects
• Coordinate contractors and ensure safe working practices are maintained

What We’re Looking For

• Mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
• Experience within heavy industry, manufacturing, processing, production, utilities or plant environments
• Strong fault‑finding and breakdown repair experience
• Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings and drive systems
• Welding and fabrication skills
• Strong health and safety awareness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
