Position

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join the team of assistants within Aseptic Services. We have a highly regarded Aseptic Production Unit (APU) at the Trust and moved into our brand new unit in 2023. Postholders must be able to supervise and be responsible for the delivery of support activities to the aseptic service. Successful applicants will carry out senior duties in a number of areas.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cytotoxic reconstitution for the Chemotherapy Service
  • Assist with the production of adult and neonatal products for the Parenteral Nutrition Service
  • Offer an extensive range of products for both internal patients and external customers for the Intravenous Additive Service
  • Supervise and develop support services and implement change within the aseptic service to ensure delivery of support activities

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience working in a pharmacy environment
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Experience of dispensing prescriptions or preparation of aseptic products
  • NVQ Level 2 Pharmacy Services or Level 2 Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
  • Willingness to complete NVQ 3 in Pharmacy Services, Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent
  • Knowledge of procedures for own pharmacy area – on the job training, experience to NVQ3 or equivalent level
  • Knowledge of stock control systems and storage of medication
  • Knowledge of hospital pharmacy supply and discharge planning (desirable)
  • Ability to relate to all grades of staff within a multidisciplinary team
  • Clear and accurate written communication skills
  • Ability to use different IT applications
  • Methodical with attention to detail
  • Ability to train others

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020.
