Role Overview

The Learning Support Assistant role is a 35‑hour‑per‑week, term‑time only position (39 weeks per year). It works Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm, with an unpaid 30‑minute lunch break. Candidates must be able to commit to full working days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in the classroom and through one‑to‑one and small group mentoring.
  • Provide weekly or one‑off one‑to‑one support.
  • Arrange access arrangements for students.
  • Lead small group sessions.
  • Run the “Chill‑out” lunch group.
  • Offer study and revision skills support.
  • Monitor and review EHCPs for students with additional needs.
  • Provide time‑management and organisation support.
  • Deliver in‑class support for students with EHCPs.
  • Proof‑read student work.
  • Mentor students with EHCPs.
  • Design and implement personalised support plans based on diagnostic screening and information from home and previous schools.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Genuine interest and commitment to helping young people achieve their potential.
  • Excellent communication and strong organisational skills.
  • Experience working with students requiring additional support, including those with EHCPs.
  • Ability to adapt support to individual student needs and promote independence and confidence.
  • Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available).
