Most senior estimating jobs are about keeping an existing machine running. This one isn’t, it’s about helping build the machine in the first place.
A young, well-funded specialist contractor working across new build, refurb and remediation is about to step into its next phase of growth.
They’ve just opened a new office in Central London near Liverpool Street, they’re good with flexible working, and they’re building a proper estimating function inside their pre-con team from the ground up. They want a Senior Estimator to be a big part of that.
It’s a genuine ground-floor role. You won’t be one of twenty estimators in a rigid setup, you’ll have a real say in how the function works, what good looks like, and how it grows.
What you’d be doing
- Owning the estimating and pricing on remediation, refurb and new build schemes, cladding, facade, fire works, EWI, fabric upgrades
- Pulling together cost plans, estimates and tenders, take-offs, pricing, subbie enquiries, the lot
- Getting stuck into two-stage tenders, PCSAs and ECI, and building target costs through pre-construction
- Owning the risk, allowances and margin in what you price
- Putting together cost submissions for the funding schemes (BSF, CSS, SHDF) and developer-funded work.
- Helping set up the estimating processes and standards as the team grows around you
- Working closely with the bid, commercial and leadership teams on how to win the work
What you’d bring
Need to have:
Solid senior estimating on remediation, facade, refurb or social housing; good take-off, cost planning and tendering; experience of two-stage and PCSA / pre-con pricing; comfortable with NEC and/or JCT; and honestly, the appetite to help build something rather than babysit a machine.
Nice to have: retrofit / EWI / PAS 2035 exposure; funding-scheme work (BSF / CSS / SHDF); MRICS or MCIOB.
