Portfolio Analyst – London – Insurance
We are looking for a Graduate from a top UK university with a good degree in one of Maths, Engineering, Computer Science, or Economics to join a growing Insurance business in London as a Portfolio Analyst.
The role primarily involves analysing the Underwriting of business to determine how profitable it is, the balance between quality and quantity of business and how that is affected by underwriting policies and decisions, and where changes should be made.
This is a key role that requires a keen, analytical mind that can apply logic to puzzles and ‘see through the trees to the wood beyond.’
You will need to be able to demonstrate:
- Strong communication skills – this role is about understanding the commercial data and being able to express the story behind it effectively and succinctly.
- An ability to communicate at all levels – speaking to senior people is part of the role and you will need to be confident and articulate
- The hustle – we need someone with drive who can get what they need from people; their attention, information, commitment
- Problem-solving skills
- Competency with Excel, SQL.
- Ideally, Power BI and/or VBA
An understanding of the Insurance industry would be an advantage but is not essential.
This would be a good first or second role post-university. It is about aptitude and attitude in equal measure – a bright, intelligent, logical mind and strong emotional intelligence.
