We have a suite of AI‑powered tools (ValueMyCV, Prepper, Jobsworth, ApplyIQ) built by a small Data Science team. We are continually improving and building new AI‑powered tech in a fast, commercially oriented environment.

About the Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid‑level Data Scientist to join our AI & Innovation Team. You will play a pivotal role in optimising our platform, focusing heavily on delivering the best search experience possible and building world‑class job recommendation systems. You’ll be working in a small team alongside colleagues with skills across disciplines, learning from and sharing data science expertise.

We are constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the HR tech space. Right now our team is driving innovative projects such as automated search‑and‑apply tools. Previously we’ve used our archive of over 4.5bn job vacancies to build proprietary ML models to estimate salaries from job descriptions and also for CVs and resumes.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and deploy production‑grade machine learning models to power our automated search and advanced personalisation tools.
  • Develop and scale sophisticated recommendation systems to match tens of millions of job seekers with their perfect roles.
  • Champion the use of Large Language Models (LLMs) within our core product offerings, moving prototypes into robust production applications.

Search & Discovery Optimisation

  • Continuous optimisation of our job search experience, leveraging advanced retrieval and ranking algorithms.
  • Research, implement, and experiment with next‑generation search techniques to enhance relevance and accuracy for users globally.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data science models seamlessly into our tech stack.
  • Design and execute rigorous A/B tests to validate new features, algorithms, and product iterations.
  • Apply advanced statistical and probability theory to evaluate model performance and user behavior.
  • Utilise our extensive data infrastructure to uncover insights that drive the AI product roadmap forward.
  • AWS: EC2, Athena, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, Step Functions, RDS, QuickSight
  • Languages & Frameworks: Python, Spark, TensorFlow, LLMs & LLM coding tools

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of post‑degree commercial experience in a data science or machine learning role.
  • Education: A technical degree at 2.1 or better (or equivalent) from a top university, with a background in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or Mathematics.
  • LLM expertise: Experience both coding LLMs into production applications and effectively utilising LLM coding tools in your daily workflow.
  • Statistical rigour: Strong, foundational statistical knowledge.
  • Execution: A record of writing clean, scalable Python code and deploying machine learning models into live, user‑facing environments.
  • Mindset: A proactive and adaptable team player who can respond quickly as project requirements and technologies evolve.

Unfortunately we are not currently able to consider candidates who have visa requirements or who require sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Experience of agentic frameworks
  • Experience with advanced search techniques, specifically Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector search.
  • Prior experience working within the online classified advertising or job board industry.
  • An active personal website or Github account with examples of your work.
  • A PhD in a relevant field of Machine Learning or Data Science.
