Infrastructure Specialist

Overview

eAkkodis is looking for an IT Platform Engineer with strong VMware experience to support a cutting-edge Software Defined Defence Space R&D programme. You will support the deployment, management and optimisation of virtualised infrastructure environments used by engineering and development teams.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain VMware-based infrastructure platforms
• Configure, manage and optimise virtual machine environments
• Support infrastructure availability, resilience and performance
• Work with engineering teams to support development and test environments
• Assist with infrastructure troubleshooting, upgrades and system improvements
• Contribute to platform security, backup and operational best practices
• Support hybrid and remote infrastructure environments where required

Required Experience

• Strong experience with VMware platform administration and support
• Experience managing virtualised server environments
• Good understanding of infrastructure, networking and storage concepts
• Experience supporting enterprise IT platforms and engineering environments
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience within defence, aerospace or secure technical environments
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux server administration
• Knowledge of cloud or hybrid infrastructure environments
• Exposure to automation or infrastructure-as-code tooling would be beneficial
