Overview

As a Senior Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer, you will play a vital role in delivering complex engineering solutions across the nuclear lifecycle—from new build to decommissioning. You will lead the design, integration and performance of safety‑critical systems that ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance in highly regulated environments. The role is full‑time, 37 hours per week, based at any of our main UK locations with hybrid working patterns and expected travel to other Cavendish and customer sites.

Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver electrical, control, and instrumentation engineering designs that meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to support nuclear projects across operations and decommissioning
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, regulators, and supply chain partners to ensure compliance and integration
  • Produce and review technical documentation including calculations, specifications, and safety case inputs
  • Drive continuous improvement, innovation, and quality across engineering activities

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering electrical, control, and instrumentation systems
  • Applying engineering standards such as IEC 61508 or BS EN 61511 within regulated environments
  • Working within multi‑disciplinary teams on complex engineering projects across the lifecycle
  • Collaborating with stakeholders including clients, regulators, and project teams
  • Producing and reviewing high‑quality technical documentation and engineering outputs

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Chartered status or working towards professional registration is desirable

Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain UK‑Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) / Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
