Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Male Learning Support Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive SEND school in Peterlee. The school provides exceptional education and care for children and young people aged 2–19 with a range of additional learning needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, build confidence, and achieve their full potential. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who can provide positive role modelling, encouragement, and consistent support to pupils within the school community.
The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment where every learner feels valued and supported.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Supporting pupils with their learning, social development, and emotional wellbeing
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and positive engagement in school life
- Assisting with personalised learning activities and interventions
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff
- Supporting behaviour management strategies and promoting positive outcomes
- Contributing to a nurturing environment where all learners can succeed
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people, ideally within a SEND, education, care, youth work, sports coaching, or support setting
- Is patient, resilient, and genuinely passionate about supporting young people
- Can build positive relationships and act as a trusted role model
- Has excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
- Is committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child can thrive
