Sports Instructor and Cover Supervisor
Location: Northampton | Start Date: ASAP | Contract: Full-time | Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience.
About the Role
Deliver an inclusive PE programme for students aged 8–18, fostering teamwork, confidence and a lifelong appreciation for health. Occasionally cover lessons in other subjects to support the wider team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver a broad range of physical activities, both curricular and extracurricular.
- Support students in developing physical skills, confidence and a positive attitude toward sport.
- Organise and lead extracurricular sports clubs, competitions and events.
- Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to contribute to students’ personal development and well‑being.
- Encourage participation, celebrate effort and build self‑esteem through physical achievement.
- Cover in other subjects as required.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in sports, coaching or physical education (QTS not required).
- Confidence leading lessons in a pool (beneficial but not essential).
- Coaching experience across a variety of sports; dance and yoga experience beneficial.
- Experience with children/young people, ideally in an educational or SEN/SEMH setting.
- Positive, patient and adaptable approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
