Job Overview

We are looking for a positive and responsible staff member who can work as part of an established team to support theatre stores and distribution. The role requires a flexible approach to working practices and demonstrable experience in a warehouse or stores environment. You will play a key part in delivering a theatre instrument delivery service to all theatres across multiple floors and locations within Southmead Hospital precinct, whilst maintaining a robust sterile store. Responsibilities include receiving and distributing duties, pick and pack orders, replenishment, stock‑taking and cleaning of all stores.Providing a theatre instrument delivery service to all theatres across multiple floors and locations within Southmead Hospital precinct whilst maintaining a robust sterile store which will include receipt and distribution duties, pick & pack orders, replenishment, stocktaking and cleaning of all stores.

Working Pattern

Monday – Sunday on a rolling rota basis, variable shifts including nights.

In This Role You Will

  • Take responsibility for ordering sets of instruments from our Sterile Services Department and ensuring they reach the required theatre.
  • Use the scanning and tracking systems to confirm that sets are in the correct location to prevent delays to planned surgeries.
  • Keep storerooms tidy and rotate stock in accordance with best practice procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff to ensure consistent working.
  • Work on own initiative within agreed parameters.

Person Specification

  • Essential criteria: Good communication skills; basic IT skills, including database experience; manual handling training; health and safety training; numeracy and literacy abilities.
  • Desirable criteria: Understanding of stock control procedures and systems; experience of a busy, demanding workplace; working in a warehouse environment; previous experience of working in a hospital or health‑care environment; working in a team‑based environment; knowledge of stores and distribution activities.
