We’re hiring a Head of Design for a fast growing datacentre developer backed by a major energy provider. With multiple operational sites across the UK and international expansion underway, this is an opportunity to lead design governance and shape the technical standards behind a next generation datacentre platform.
The role
- Own and develop datacentre design standards and reference architecture
- Lead technical review and sign off of consultant and contractor designs
- Oversee M&E design across critical power, cooling, resilience and heat recovery systems
- Support projects through design, construction, commissioning and handover
- Manage relationships with architects, MEP consultants and design build contractors
- Ensure designs meet performance, resilience, sustainability and HPC requirements
What we’re looking for
- 7+ years’ experience within datacentres, mission critical facilities, energy, utilities or major infrastructure projects
- Strong Mechanical and Electrical engineering expertise
- Experience acting as a technical authority overseeing third party design delivery
- Experience delivering complex engineering projects through commissioning
- Background as a Head of Design, Design Manager, Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer or similar leadership role
- Degree qualified in Mechanical, Electrical or Building Services Engineering
Desirable
- Experience with HPC, AI infrastructure or high density cooling environments
- Knowledge of heat reuse, district heating or thermal networks
- Experience developing design standards across multiple sites, regions or countries
