Our client, a busy Local Authority in North London, is looking for an experienced Technical Scientific Officer to play a crucial role in their public health, safety & environment operations.

Salary: £39,771 per annum

Contract Duration: Permanent

Working Arrangement: Hybrid

Purpose

The Technical Scientific Officer role is a regulatory and enforcement position focused on protecting public health, safety, and the environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Ensuring businesses and residents comply with health, safety, and environmental legislation.
• Conducting site visits, audits, and investigations into complaints to monitor public health standards.
• Gathering evidence, maintaining case files, writing reports, and supporting legal proceedings when necessary.
• Providing clear, accurate, and timely technical advice to internal teams, businesses, stakeholders, and the public.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience working within a local authority or a similar organisation.
• At least 1 year of experience within a Technical Scientific Officer role or equivalent.
• Experience in a regulatory, environmental health, scientific, or compliance-based role.
• A degree or postgraduate qualification in Environmental Health, Science, or a closely related field.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
