Overview of the Role
Principal Coastal Engineer in the Ports, Coastal and Offshore (PCO) team. Influence the success of maritime projects across the UK and internationally, providing economic and feasibility assessments to detailed design and construction documentation. Sectors include coastal zone management, offshore renewables, cables and tidal power.
Responsibilities
- Conduct economic and feasibility assessments for coastal processes, metocean and hydrodynamic investigations.
- Lead detailed design and construction documentation for coastal engineering projects.
- Provide input to contract procurement, preparing tender documents, specifications, BOQs and construction drawings, and manage tender process to contract award.
- Support new business development initiatives and tender submissions.
- Anticipate and manage project risks, quality, and commercial matters.
- Where appropriate, contribute to resourcing, programming and other project management activities.
Essential Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related technical equivalent.
- Experience working in Coastal Engineering within a consultancy environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable writing reports and delivering presentations.
- Demonstrated experience delivering coastal engineering projects using innovative and digitally driven techniques.
- Experience in business development, including client liaison and bid preparation.
- Chartered status with a relevant professional institution such as ICE, IStructE, or CIWEM, or equivalent working experience.
- Demonstrated project leadership.
Desirable Qualifications
- Willingness to travel overseas for project assignments.
- Strong networking and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
