Job Overview

Senior or Principal Nuclear Safety Engineer role focused on maintaining the highest standards of nuclear safety and delivering robust solutions to technical challenges. This role is responsible for identifying, analysing, and mitigating nuclear risks while supporting the design, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities.

Competitive salary: £50,000+ per annum plus additional pay in line with our performance philosophy and recognition culture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams producing nuclear safety cases, including identification, characterisation, assessment, authoring, and review.
  • Work with clients across nuclear generation, new build, defence, fusion, and SMR sectors.
  • Support critical decision‑making for the design, commissioning, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities and assets, including nuclear site licence applications.
  • Build a business pipeline and deliver technical presentations to clients and regulators.
  • Lead technical delivery to solve complex safety‑critical problems and present solutions to stakeholders.
  • Take ownership of technical and professional development across our nuclear safety portfolio.

Qualifications

  • Background of compliance with regulatory expectations and experience enabling safe design, operation, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, contributing to a secure, low‑carbon energy future for the UK.
  • Technical leadership for the delivery of nuclear safety cases across nuclear and defence programmes, with accountability for complex, safety‑critical work.
  • Mentorship experience, including developing junior staff and building capabilities and best practice within the organization.
  • A strong focus on both the bigger picture and meticulous attention to detail required for success in a critical safety role.
