Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Consultancy

Overview
This award‑winning building services consultancy integrates sustainable solutions into every project they deliver across commercial, residential, education and industrial sectors.
They have a team of around 20 engineers and focus on low‑carbon design.
Role
You will take ownership of mechanical design across a range of project types, from concept to post‑completion evaluation. You’ll produce detailed engineering design, including calculations, schematics, specifications, equipment schedules and supporting documentation, and represent the business at client and project team meetings.
You’ll also mentor less experienced engineers, contribute to their development, stay current with legislation, standards and emerging technologies, and bring that knowledge into project delivery.
About You
- Mechanical building services design engineer with strong technical grounding and ability to articulate design rationale clearly
- Chartered or actively working towards chartership with a recognised institution
- Solid understanding of low‑carbon design principles and their practical application
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication skills – able to hold your own in client‑facing situations and present confidently
- Experience across sectors such as residential, commercial, education, healthcare or critical systems is desirable
- Familiarity with relevant software including Amtech Prodesign, IES Virtual Environment, Revit, AutoCAD and Dialux/Relux
