The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen with a leading engineering organisation to support a specialist design office delivering innovative tooling solutions for early-stage nuclear decommissioning operations. You will play a key role in developing engineering solutions that directly support critical project delivery.
The Role
This role would suit candidates working in these roles; Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Project Engineer, Design Engineer, Tooling Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Engineering Consultant, Systems Engineer, Lead Mechanical Engineer, Development Engineer. We would also welcome applications from these industries; Nuclear, defence, oil and gas, heavy engineering, advanced manufacturing.
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Design and develop specialised mechanical tooling to support operational and retrieval activities
- Produce comprehensive engineering outputs including technical documentation and specifications
- Generate design packages ready for manufacture and installation, incorporating drawings and supporting documentation
- Work closely with senior engineering leadership to deliver project objectives and technical solutions
- Ensure all work complies with relevant standards, procedures, and engineering best practice
You will have the following qualifications and experience
- HNC, HND, degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical or related engineering discipline
- Proven experience delivering detailed design packages for manufacturing and installation
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, procedures, and regulated working environments
- Experience producing technical documentation such as drawings, method statements, and risk assessments
- Ideally, exposure to complex or hazardous environments such as decommissioning or legacy facilities
