Role Summary
Major Projects Planner (Development Management) – 12‑month Fixed‑Term Contract / Secondment. Responsible for leading development management matters of strategic or significant importance to the borough, negotiating with developers and other stakeholders to secure positive outcomes, financial benefits and wider community improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and manage major development proposals in line with local planning policies.
- Conduct research and provide evidence‑based recommendations for planning decisions.
- Project‑manage the development management process from application to implementation.
- Collaborate with Council teams and negotiate with developers, consultees and the community to secure positive outcomes.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and policy requirements and monitor development performance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Postgraduate qualification in Town Planning.
- Membership of, or eligibility for, the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Demonstrated analytical approach, excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Experience in research, project management and problem‑solving within the planning sector.
- Awareness and understanding of current planning issues affecting inner‑urban areas and Development Management.
