The Renters’ Rights Advice service plays an important role in helping Manchester respond to changes in the private rented sector and support both residents and landlords at risk of housing issues escalating.
This role sits at the front end of that work, providing early, practical support so situations can be addressed quickly and fairly. It’s a fast‑paced, hands‑on role where no two days look the same. You’ll deal with a range of enquiries, supporting tenants at risk of losing their home as well as working with landlords and agents to resolve issues early. The focus is on early intervention, problem solving and preventing issues from escalating into homelessness or more complex disputes.
If you enjoy working at pace, thinking through complex situations and making a real difference early on, this is a great opportunity to be part of a new and evolving service supporting the private rented sector.
When you’re successful, you’ll join a new team focused on early intervention and prevention. Your role will be key in identifying housing risks early, providing clear advice, and helping to stabilise situations before they escalte.
By stepping in at the right time, you’ll help prevent avoidable homelessness, support better outcomes across the private rented sector, and reduce pressure on statutory services. You’ll also play an important role in shaping how the service develops, making sure it remains practical, responsive and adds real value across the wider homelessness system.
For an informal discussion, please contact the hiring manager, Liz Gabbott, at liz.gabbott@manchester.gov.uk to arrange a convenient time to discuss the role.
To apply for this role, please submit a personal statement which clearly demonstrates how you meet the essential criteria.
