Be part of Herefordshire Council’s Transport Planning team, leading strategic initiatives, policy development, and service improvement, to deliver better connectivity and sustainable transport across the county.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver strategic transport strategies and policies.
- Lead local and regional rail, bus, walking, cycling and wheeling strategies.
- Secure transport funding and manage DfT funding streams.
- Commission and manage transport projects.
- Engage with communities, stakeholders and external agencies to ensure inclusive and effective transport solutions.
- Form alliances across council departments and external partners to embed transport in all planning.
- Represent the Council in national transport forums and contribute to policy horizon scanning.
- Provide expertise and oversight to support the delivery of the Local Transport Plan and related strategies.
Qualifications
- Degree level or equivalent, preferably in transport, planning or a related discipline.
- Sound knowledge of current transport policy, legislation, sustainable transport initiatives and national policies.
- Experience in developing transport policy and strategy across all modes of transport.
- Strong understanding of statutory requirements and national policy context for local transport.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and influence decision‑making.
